iPhones help organise your weddingI Love My iPhone

Share your wedding highlight on your iPhone or iPod. From now on, Perth Wedding DVD will give new customers a complimentary iPhone version of a highlight movie. Don’t have an iPhone? Are you crazy?!

If you’re planning your wedding, an iPhone could be a great investment. There are dozens of wedding apps available for your iPhone or iPod Touch including complete wedding planners like iWedding Delux, countdown apps like Tie the Knot and games such as Wedding Dash. You can also use it to help plan the music for your wedding video or your DJ, locate your venues using Maps, and talk to your vendors using the talky-to-people-bit (phone). So what more motivation do you need?

HD versus HDV versus SD

Perth Wedding DVD has worked in the HD realm since we started way back in 2006 (as GreyGhost Media). Back then we shot in HDV (1440 x 1080i). Most of our competitors still shoot in HDV or SD (720 X 576). But since September 2008 we have been shooting and editing in full HD (1920 x 1080p).

What’s the difference? Well, I’m glad you asked!

Format Comparison :: This image has been constrained so it can fit within your browser. It shows the comparative difference between the sizes of the three video formats Standard Definition :: This is the actual size of a standard definition video frame shot in a wide format. The video camera squishes the image like this so it can be stretched into a widescreen look later. HDV (High Definition Video) :: This is the actual size of a HDV video frame. The video camera squishes the image like this so it can be stretched into a widescreen look later. Full High Definition :: This is the actual size of the video frame Perth Wedding DVD shoots for you. Big isn't it.... Press escape to exit

You'll notice that the HDV and SD footage is squished. Thats because these technologies cant shoot in a native 16:9 (widescreen) format. You need calibrated editing software to stretch the pixels into a widescreen appearance. Unfortunately this means that the end result looses some picture sharpness and detail. This is not the case for the full HD footage. In fact the HD image will be too big to fit on the screen for most of you; thats how big the original image is! And don't forget, we edit your entire project in this format.

"So what?" you might ask. Considering the investment a wedding video is and the amazing value you it represents as an archive of your life and family at a significant time in your life, don't you think you should have the very best quality you can afford? It also demonstrates that Perth Wedding DVD's investment in superior technology to film your wedding is worth every cent.

As an added note. If you have had your wedding video produced by Perth Wedding DVD (or GreyGhost Media) and you have not yet purchased your HD back up files, please consider doing this. For $350 you could be enjoying your movies in full HD on your big screen TV's now and protecting your precious memories for future generations.

Thanks Scott and Liz

We are so happy with our wedding highlights and full wedding DVD! It is everything we could have hoped for. You captured every special moment and were so discreet that to be honest on the day we hardly noticed your presence, which has resulted in very relaxed and natural footage. We have received really positive comments from the people we have shown already, and will be happy to refer you to family and friends who are looking for a wedding videographer.

We are so glad Nat and Chad have decided to book with you for their wedding. We're sure they will be just as happy with their wedding DVD as we are with ours. Many thanks for your assistance and best of luck."

Wedding Tips - April

Choosing the music for your reception.

It's a great idea to start thinking about this early on. Once you do, you will begin listening to music differently. When you hear a song on the radio that you like, start to think about it in terms of your wedding and whether you'd like to hear it there or not. The Shazam app on your iPhone allows you to capture the song and immediately access the title, artist and album. It’s the perfect way to commence compiling a list of songs for your wedding. Remember, it's YOUR wedding, so pick music that YOU want to hear on the night. Whilst it's not essential, it is helpful to give your DJ some indication about your taste in music so that they can help make it the perfect night for you and your guests.

This months Wedding Tip was brought to you by Alistair Smith, former client of PWDVD and Professional Music Consultant with Top Shelf Music.
